Holding the police to account

Checks and balances

A key role of the Office and Police and Crime Commissioner is to act on behalf of the public to audit and scrutinise Nottinghamshire Police.

This is done in a number of ways, from an Accountability Board where the PCC directly holds the Chief Constable to account, to running volunteer schemes where people inspect custody suites or the dog section.

Find out more about the range of checks and balances that we have in place to perform this vital role.
