Updated statement from Commissioner Godden

7 August 2024

A statement from Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Gary Godden:

In order to address the concerns of our communities and to ensure the safety of everyone in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, I have been in constant communication with Chief Constable Kate Meynell.

Together, we will strive to maintain peace and order, making our city a safer place for all residents and supporting the resilience of our local businesses.

We are committed to an increased high-visibility police presence throughout the city and county, on our transport routes, and within our communities while any unrest lasts. This enhanced presence aims to reassure the public and foster a sense of safety for everyone.

Our priority is to protect the safety and well-being of all residents while supporting the peaceful expression of opinions and preventing any potential unrest.

I encourage any members of the public who may have concerns or require assistance to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 for non-emergencies or 999 in the case of an emergency.

Your safety is our top priority, and we are here to help.
