Faith leaders come together for community listening event
Faith leaders from across Nottinghamshire came together for a listening event aimed at building community cohesion and collaboration on public safety.
Discussions included how police can increase trust and confidence within the community, how faith communities can support young people and what opportunities there may be to work collaboratively.
The event, at Edwards Lane Community Centre in Sherwood yesterday evening, was organised by the Office and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire and the Violence Reduction Partnership in support of PCC Gary Godden’s drive to engage with and ensure all of Nottinghamshire’s diverse communities are listened to.
Guest speakers included Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Angela Kandola, Josie Ellingham and Annie Parry of Nottinghamshire Victim Care, Chief Superintendent Nick Waldram, head of local policing and operations for Nottinghamshire Police, Shamsher Chohan of Communities Inc.
Deputy PCC Kandola said: “It was fantastic to see so many people and so many faiths represented in the room.
“There was a real positivity about working together to enhance partnership working and ensure all our communities are represented in the work that we do as the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Violence Reduction Partnership to create a safer Nottinghamshire for all.
“I’d like to thank everyone for coming and we look forward to building on this with more events like this in the future.”
