Accountability update following inspection of Nottinghamshire Police

12 March 2024

Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry today asked Nottinghamshire Police Chief Constable Kate Meynell to explain how she plans to address HMICFRS’ concerns.

It comes a day after His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) raised two accelerated causes of concern in relation to investigations and support to victims; as well as its governance arrangements.

Commissioner Henry holds monthly Accountability Board meetings to hold the force to account on behalf of the public and she took the opportunity today to ask for more detail on the next steps.

HMICFRS Update From Chief
Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry today asked Nottinghamshire Police Chief Constable Kate Meynell to explain how she plans to steer the force out of special measures. It comes a day after Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) raised two accelerated causes of concern in relation to what it described as the force’s failure to sufficiently manage and carry out effective investigations and support victims; and have adequate governance arrangements in place. Commissioner Henry holds monthly Accountability Board meetings to hold the force to account on behalf of the public and she took the opportunity today to ask for more detail on the next steps.
